OAKWOOD - Johnson High School has a new head football coach. JHS Athletic Director Tim Rogers announced Thursday morning that Jason Roquemore will begin workouts with the Knights on Monday.

The Johnson High School assignment will be Roquemore's first head coaching job, according to Rogers. He is coming to Johnson from North Cobb Christian, where he was defensive coordinator for the past two years. Prior to that, Roquemore was defensive coordinator for the football team at Kennesaw Mountain High School.

Rogers said that the school received nearly 40 applications for the head coaching job after Paul Friel resigned from the position to return to his home state of Maryland.

Rogers said that Roquemore met with his new team Thursday morning and that the players are "genuinely excited for a fresh start."
