GAINESVILLE - Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new expansion project Sunday, June 10.

The campus development will boast a number of new accommodations, according to church officials. Some of these include a new fellowship hall to seat over 200 people, a renovated education wing, new offices, and larger parking capacity.

The church will expand its facilities onto adjacent property, bordering on Robin Hood Trail. The project is funded by a three-year fundraising campaign. Members of the church have already contributed over $720,000.

Doug Fuge, chairman of the Good Shepherd's Capital Stewardship Campaign, says "we want to work now to expand our campus so that we can continue to accommodate new members and further expand our community ministries."

"It's exciting to see how God is at work in this congregation," says Rev. Ben Haupt. "This expansion will allow us even more opportunity to expand our ministries.

The construction project is expected to take approximately 6 months to complete.

The ceremony is set to take place at noon following the conclusion of the 10:45 a.m. service. Good Shepherd is located at 600 S. Enota Drive in Gainesville.
