The barrels were on display for several weeks at the Frances Meadows Aquatic and Community Center where visitors could vote in person. On-line voting was also available.
Gainesville Water Conservation Specialist Jennifer Flowers said the entries were better than ever.
"Seven judges and 846 on-line/in person votes created scores that were extremely close. We were very impressed with the detail of each rain barrel and the commitment to the theme 'Protecting Our Waters.'"
All the barrels will be featured in the Chicken City Parade this Saturday, beginning at 11:00 on the Gainesville square.
