BATESVILLE -- A body recovered Tuesday night in Batesville is that of missing Rabun County resident Gordon Mitchell, 62, of Clarkesville, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Mitchell's body was found in a wooded area near Woody Bend Drive in Habersham County, and was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation State Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy, according to GBI Region 8 Special Agent in Charge Kimberly Williams.

Two Louisiana residents have been charged with murder in Habersham County in Mitchell's death, according to Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Brian Rickman.

Frank Joseph Guitreau Jr., 30, and Ashley Gail Hall, 29, also were charged in Rabun County with possession of firearms by a convicted felon, manufacture of methamphetamine and providing false statements, Rickman said.

An autopsy on Mitchell is scheduled for Thursday and Williams said more details could be released after that.

Mitchell was reported missing Sunday, Feb. 19, after last being seen Saturday, Feb. 18, at Sweetwater Campground in Rabun County.

Mitchell resided at a Clarkesville address in Rabun County, according to Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell.
