Buford Sen. Renee Unterman has filed a bill that would require anyone who witnesses child abuse to report it to the authorities. She said the General Assembly is already working on solving the issue.
"We have actually put money in the budget and we have created a system of care that has therapeutic services and we have also created a home where young girls and young boys can go to," said Unterman.
The current law only requires those directly responsible for a child's care, like a teacher or a doctor, to report abuse.
