AccuWeather expects readings by daybreak to be below freezing in most places across the region with wind chills in the low- to mid-teens.
Gainesville, Cornelia and Buford are expecting lows of around 30, with a 19 forecast for Blairsville. Winds will increase to around 15-20 miles an hour (with stronger gusts, at times) by morning and continue that way during the day. In Gainesville, for instance, the temperature is expected to climb only to the low 40s by noon with wind chills around 30. The winds will continue overnight Friday with the low Saturday morning in Gainesville 27.

Rainfall Thursday was some of the heaviest in recent weeks in north Georgia. By 3:00 p.m., Gainesville had recorded .88 inches; Blairsville, .81; Cornelia, 1.47 inches; and, Buford, 1.15.
