GAINESVILLE - A man charged in the deaths of two brothers killed in a boating crash on Lake Lanier is scheduled to go on trial on May 20, according to Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh.

Paul J. Bennett of Cumming posted a $50,000 bond in August. He was 44 at the time of his arrest.

Bennett is charged in a June 18 collision that killed 13-year-old Griffin Prince and his 9-year-old brother, Jake, both of Buford. He faces charges including first-degree homicide by vessel and boating under the influence.

Darragh said a motions hearing is scheduled January 31.

Investigators said Bennett was behind the wheel when his boat slammed into the Prince family's pontoon boat, which was carrying 12 people.

It took dive crews nine days to find Griffin's body.
