TOCCOA - Team Metal Finishing in Toccoa was recently recognized following a lighting retrofit project that will save the company thousands of dollars each year while benefiting the environment.

Team Metal Finishing received an Environmental Stewardship Award from Wisconsin-based Orion Energy Systems after the completion of the project, which will reduce annual kWh usage by an estimated 247,463 while indirectly removing 151 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

The project, based on current blended utility rates, is expected to save Team Metal Finishing $20,787 a year on lighting electricity costs.

Orion Energy Systems says it maximized cost savings and environmental benefits by replacing 331 hot-burning, energy-sapping 400-watt metal halide fixtures with 224 high-performance, energy-efficient T8 fluorescent fixtures.
