FBI joins Gainesville PD in Sun Trust robbery probe, releases photos of suspects

ATLANTA - Agents with the FBI have joined investigators with the Gainesville Police Department as they search for two men responsible for the armed robbery of the Sun Trust Bank branch on Thompson Bridge Road Tuesday evening.

In a press release issued Wednesday, the FBI updated information on the robbery, which was reported at approximately 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 11.

Agents said two white males entered the bank at 1430 Thompson Bridge Road and announced a robbery. One of the robbers was carrying an assault rifle and the other robber was observed carrying a white bag. The robber with the rifle demanded money. Agents said he indicated that he might have had a recent home foreclosure. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, both men left the bank. No one was hurt.

The suspects are described as white males, mid twenties to early thirties in age, medium build, medium height. Agents said they are to be considered armed and dangerous.
