Marine Corps Toys for Tots program needs your help

Posted 1:45PM on Wednesday 12th December 2012 ( 11 years ago )
The Marine Corps is looking for a few good men and women to help spread the joy of Christmas to all children this year through their annual Toys for Tots program.

The Upper Chattahoochee Detachment 665 of the Marine Corps League urges everyone who can to help fill the Toys for Tots boxes available throughout the community. Donation boxes can be found in over 100 locations including Regions Banks, Publix Grocery stores, the Marine Corps recruiting station and the main library in Gainesville.

Toys for Tots Coordinator Wally Calderon says donations this year are well below last year and his greatest fear is the Marines will run out of toys before they can get them to all the families in need. So far, they have distributed over 8,000 toys.

The Marines can't pick up individual toy donations but will gladly pick up multiples of 25 toys if a company of family wishes to participate. Call "Cookie" Salinas at 770-967-9266 to donate.

Monetary donations can be made directly to the GA-Gainesville program at www.toysfortots.org/donate.
