OAKWOOD - In a joint presentation at its December 2012 meeting, the Lanier Technical College Board of Directors along with the Board of Foundation Trustees honored outgoing Hall County Commission Chairman Tom Oliver, a longtime supporter of the college and technical college education advocate.

Oliver was presented the resolution by Russell Vandiver, President of Lanier Tech, Roger Slaton, Chairman of the Board of the Directors for the College, and Tracy Moon, Vice Chair, Board of Trustees.

"Tom has been a long-time friend and great supporter of Lanier Technical College," Vandiver said. "He has been there for us, the students, the College and the community. His support has helped lead our tremendous growth and helped us continue to be the foremost workforce development leader in our area."

Oliver, who lost his re-election bid earlier this year, has served as Hall County Board of Commissioners Chairman since 2005 and began his second four-year term in January 2009. He previously served as South Hall commissioner from 1991-94.
