According to the Georgia State Patrol, 80 year old Jess Willard Haygood and his passenger, 67 year old Sara Pauline Haygood, both of Norcross, died in the afternoon crash.
Troopers said a 2003 GMC Envoy, being driven by 27 year old Kristina Marie Brown of Winder, crossed the center line of Georgia Highway eight and hit Mr. Haygood's 1992 Honda Accord.
Brown was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment.
The crash just east of the Gwinnett County Line remains under investigation. Charges are pending the completion of a follow-up investigation by the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
The wreck happened around 2:25 p.m. and blocked the roadway for several hours.
