Forsyth Co. parapro charged with sexual battery

CUMMING - A middle school para-professional from Forsyth County has been arrested on charges of sexual battery against a student at Riverwatch Middle School.

Forsyth County investigators said 26-year-old Marvin Shane Pilcher of Old Atlanta Road in Suwanee was arrested Wednesday.

"Mr. Pilcher is being held right now in the Forsyth County Detention Center with no bond," said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Karleen Chalker.

Chalker said investigators first learned of the incident Monday when the student went to school officials. The school then contacted the sheriff's office and an investigation was launched.

Chalker said the Forsyth County School System will communicate with parents of students who attend Riverwatch. At this point, only one student has made allegations against Pilcher, according to Chalker.

Jennifer Caracciolo, spokeswoman for Forsyth County Schools, said Pilcher was terminated this week. He had worked with the system as a teaching assistant in special education since 2009.

She said parents and teachers at Riverwatch about Pilcher's arrest via e-mail earlier Wednesday.
