GAINESVILLE - Nearly 15,000 seniors and employees from 23 ACTS Retirement-Life Communities, including Gainesville, recently came together in the spirit of loving-kindness to help neighbors in need by donating 19 tons of food and clothing to 21 different outreach sites in eight states: Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.

During this annual drive, the ACTS family graciously gives food, money or clothing as part of the company's continual commitment to serving others. In total, 39,419 lbs. of personal essentials was collected to help meet the needs of those who have fallen on hard times.

Gainesville's Lanier Village Estates was among the retirement communities to participate, collecting 1,500 lbs. of food and other goods for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank.

ACTS Retirement-Life Communities owns and manages 23 active lifestyle continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). ACTS is a faith-based, not-for-profit corporation with a mission of serving the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of seniors. www.ACTSretirement.org
