ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Defense attorneys for the founders of a Georgia-based ministry charged with fraud and money laundering say evidence in the case is totaling millions of pages of documents.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports it has been a year since a federal grand jury indicted Angel Food Ministries founders Joe and Linda Wingo. The couple is accused of illegally taking money from the charity, which sent discounted groceries to needy families across the U.S., and using the funds to buy jewelry, cars, homes and gambling trips.

The case is moving slowly because of a mountain of evidence. Defense attorneys say in court filing they expect the case will include 60 million pages.

A judge has set a Dec. 31 deadline for pretrial motions.

Joe Wingo's attorney, Michael C. Daniel, says Wingo is innocent.
