ATLANTA - Four people have been nominated for two new superior court judgeships in the Gainesville area. The new positions were created by the state Legislature earlier this year, one for the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit and one for the Piedmont circuit.

The nominees for the Bell-Forsyth opening are Leslie Case Abernathy, the Forsyth County Solicitor General, and Phillip C. Smith, chief judge of the State Court of Forsyth County. Nominees for the Piedmont Judicial Circuit judgeship are attorneys Wanda L. Barnett and Wayne D. McLocklin.

The newly-created posts will bring to three the number of Superior Court judges in the Bell-Fosyth circuit and to four the number in the Piedmont circuit. Governor Deal will make the appointments.
