"We set up barriers with dozer lines, and used natural barriers such as streams and natural road beds," District Recreation Manager for the Blue Ridge Ranger District Valencia Morris said.
The fire burned about 215 acres in the Black and Springer Mountain areas of the Chattahoochee National Forest, but the containment area is bigger.
"Ultimately, once we have the fire fully contained, 455 acres will be inside the containment lines," Morris said.
Forest Service spokeswoman Judy Toppins said the fire could be completely contained by Thursday and trail and road closures could be lifted by Friday.
Toppins said no structures were ever threatened by the fire. In addition, she said Amicalola Falls State Park and Len Foote Hike Inn were not threatened, and visitors could safely travel to these locations.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
