BUFORD - Residents of a subdivision in south Hall County are afraid a plan to annex a piece of foreclosed property into the Buford City limits will have a negative impact on their property values.

The 82+-acre tract of land in question is on Fraser Road and backs up to the Lexington Woods subdivision.

Resident Worth McDaniell said the homeowners association is ready to do battle with Buford planners over the proposal to change the residential zoning on the land.

"The bank feels like the better way to sell this piece of property is to have it rezoned M-1, which is commercial-light industrial," said McDaniell.

McDaniell said the half dozen homeowners who are directly affected by the proposed rezoning, as well as the Lexington Woods HOA, disagree.

McDaniell contends there is plenty of commercial property in the area that is available for business development.

"This piece of property butts up to the end of Golden Parkway, which is an industrial development," said McDaniell. "And half of that development has never been developed."

Buford's Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m. on the plan. The Buford City Council gets a look at the proposal on December 3.
