Tripp Halstead has captured the attention of people across the country. His mother, Stacy Halstead, told CBS Atlanta her son continues to make progress.
"We never give up hope that he'll be back to what he was. We would never do that to him. We are extremely inspired when we look at him. We only tell him good things, and we know he'll be the same."
Stacy and Bill Halstead said Tripp is staying awake longer and even tried to swallow water on his own.
"They just put ice on his mouth to make a reaction, and then they felt his throat and they could see him swallow a little bit of the water that ran down," Stacy Halstead said.
Tripp is undergoing intensive therapy at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, according to CBS Atlanta. His family is also learning how to care for him.
