LUMPKIN - A former warden at the North Georgia Detention Center in Gainesville, Stacey Stone, has been named warden at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin. Both facilities are operated by Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). Stone assumes the position from Mike Swinton, who has been appointed to Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at TransCor America, LLC.

"I'm looking forward to broadening my experience with CCA and working with the great people employed at the Stewart facility," Stone said. "It's an exciting new assignment for me."

Stone first joined the CCA team in 2005 as chief of security at CCA's McRae Correctional Facility, in McRae, where he soon rose to the position of assistant warden.

Prior to working for CCA, Stone spent nine years with the Georgia Department of Corrections. In 2003, Stone received the Governor's Public Safety Award for Heroism. Previous to his 16-year career in corrections, Stone served in the Georgia Army National Guard for 12 years.
