WASHINGTON, D.C. - A bank based in north Georgia becomes the 50th bank seized this year by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Regulators Friday closed Hometown Community Bank, headquartered in Braselton.

The two brances of the bank will reopen Saturday morning as branches of CertusBank, N.A., based in Easley, S.C.

A press release from the FDIC said customers of Hometown Community Bank should continue to use their existing branch until they receive notice from CertusBank, N.A. that it has completed systems changes to allow other CertusBank, N.A. branches to process their accounts as well.

According to the statement, as of September 30, 2012, Hometown Community Bank had approximately $124.6 million in total assets and $108.9 million in total deposits.
