GAINESVILLE - A Marietta man Thursday got ten years in prison and the rest of his life on supervised release following an undercover operation in Barrow County.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, 52 year old James Christopher Redman arranged to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex in a Barrow County park. A Barrow County investigator had been chatting with Redman online, posing as the girl.

"This man not only engaged in sexually explicit communications with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, but he actually traveled to have sex with the child. His lengthy sentence is well-deserved," United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said.

Authorities nabbed Redman in June of last year. He pleaded guilty to enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.

"The Barrow County Sheriff's Office will always remain vigilant when it comes to those who choose to prey on our children," Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said in a release.
