GAINESVILLE - Organizers expect over 200 people in Gainesville over the weekend for a fishing tournament.

The Georgia B.A.S.S. Federation Nation State Classic makes its first tournament appearance on the waters of Lake Lanier this Friday and Saturday.

"The most visible thing you'll be able to see and know that these guys are in this tournament is their jerseys from their club and their sponsors," federation president Jeff Jones said.

Jones said the area was a good fit, because of the local support and the tournament facility at Laurel Park. He said many of their clubs are located in the metro Atlanta area.

"It's a great opportunity here with Gainesville and Hall County. They've been great to work with to get this thing set up, because we couldn't do it without the local community, the boat dealers and the local sponsors that have helped us out," Jones said.

The anglers will hit the waters of Lanier at 7:00 a.m. both Friday and Saturday. The tournament will send 14 adults and two youth to the southern divisional in Tennessee in April.
