Wilheit elected Board of Regents' Vice Chair

ATLANTA- The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has selected Philip A. Wilheit, Sr. of Gainesville to serve a one-year term as its' Vice Chairman.

After graduating with a B.A. in English from the University of the South in 1966, Wilheit went on to hold numerous appointments in local and state government, including serving on the State Board of Education from 1996-1999 and chairing Gov. Deal's gubernatorial campaign.

Wilheit, president of Gainesville-based Wilheit Packaging and Marketing Images, also served for over 40 years on the Greater Hall County Chamber of Commerce.

The Board of Regents, which consists of 18 members, oversees a university system with almost 315,000 enrolled students.
