Turnout high in N. Ga.

UNDATED - Voter turnout in Hall County Tuesday shattered the elections director's expectations.

Despite no contested county offices on the ballot, 69.99 percent of Hall County voters turned out to cast ballots for president, U.S. House District nine and two Georgia Constitutional amendments.

Despite the number, Hall County trailed in turnout in contiguous counties. Forsyth County posted an 80 percent voter turnout.

Turnout in other area counties:

Dawson - 77.73 percent

White - 73.55 percent

Jackson - 74.59 percent

Barrow - 72.09 percent

Lumpkin - 71.05 percent

Banks - 71.02 percent

The Georgia Secretary of State's office recorded a 71.37% turnout with 158 of 159 counties reporting.
