Mayfield Dairy visitor center ready for grand re-opening

BRASELTON - Mayfield Dairy's Braselton visitor center is re-opening Friday after closing last October. A ribbon-cutting is planned along with tours, fun and games, and more. Local elected officials will compete to see who can scoop the tallest ice cream cone. And, there will be plenty of free ice ice cream samples, including the return of the seasonal favorites Peppermint Stick and Snow Cream.

Here is the schedule for the grand re-pening:

9:00 a.m. - Doors open to public
10:05 - Remarks and ribbon cutting
10:15 - Tallest ice cream cone contest with elected officials
10:40 - Scottie Mayfield hosts a tour
Various times - Ice cream eating contests, milk chug-a-lug
contests, frozen t-shirt contest, tours, etc.

Tour elements include vintage dairy images, a life-size cow where guests can try their hand at milking, a working dairy test lab, working processing equipment such as a pasteurizer and homogenizer, and more
