One area team fell out and another area jumped in to the latest Associated Press prep football rankings, released on Tuesday.

After suffering a shock, 46-41 loss to Loganville last week, Gainesville fell out of the Class AAAAA top 10. The Red Elephants (7-2, 6-1 Region 8-AAAAA) had risen to fifth place and will look for some redemption for the defeat this week against rival Flowery Branch in a battle for the 8-AAAAA crown at The Branch that will be broadcast live on 102.9 FM. Both the Red Elephants and Falcons (7-2, 7-0) are receiving votes in the poll.

Meanwhile, North Hall has climbed into the Class AAA top 10, coming in at ninth this week, as the Trojans (8-1, 6-0 Region 7-AAA) prepare for a top 10 showdown with No. 3 Buford this Friday in a game that will be broadcast live on WDUN AM 550. North Hall clinched the 7-AAA crown last week for its first region title since 2007 but will face its toughest challenge of the season so far against a fired-up Wolves program. Buford (6-3, 4-2) will not get a chance to play for the 7-AAA title due to forfeiting two region wins but will be looking to make a statement in the contest.

Meanwhile, Jefferson maintained its spot at No. 9 in Class AA. The Dragons (8-1, 6-0 Region 8-AA) clinched the Region 8-AA title last week for their first crown since 2009 and will play host to Union County (6-3, 3-3) on Friday.

And in Class AAAAAA, North Gwinnett climbed one spot to No. 5 after hammering Mountain View 49-7 last week. The Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1 Region 7-AAAAAA) have sewn up the No. 2 seed from Region 7-AAAAAA and will travel to face Peachtree Ridge (4-5, 4-3) on Friday.
