GAINESVILLE - Despite all the efforts of the Hall County elections office staff to educate voters, Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee says there's still some confusion on this election day.

Sosebee said the phone has been ringing non-stop at the elections office on Browns Bridge Road.

"We have received numerous phone calls from voters who are just now checking to see if they're registered or have questions on whether they were registered to vote or where they should vote," said Sosebee.

Sosebee said the turnout has been steady but not unmanageable.

"As of 10:00 this morning, we had 11,837 voters who had visited the 35 voting locations," she said. Based on the trend, Sosebee said turnout may be higher than her original projection of 35-percent.

She said that while her staff at the elections office at the Hall County Government Center has been swamped with phone calls, operations are running smoothly at the individual precincts. Sosebee said one precinct did run out of some supplies, specifically the Georgia voter stickers, but that overall, there had been no big glitches this election day.

Precincts are open until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Any registered voter in line by 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.

Poll workers at the Ruby C. Fulbright Aquatic and Recreation Center in Clarkesville had an easier than normal job Tuesday because so many in the county's Clarkesville precinct voted early. Poll officers did say as many as 15 to 20 people were in line
