CANTON - Authorities are investigating the death of a worker at a Pilgrim's Pride chicken plant in Canton.

Detectives said that the death is believed to have been an accident. The 37-year-old man apparently was trying to dislodget a piece of debris in some equipment when he was killed. It happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the plant on Univeter Road.

The male worker's name wasn't immediately released, since his relatives live out of state.

OSHA is taking part in the investigation.
