CLEVELAND - The Georgia State Patrol and White County Sheriff's deputies were busy over the weekend in a concentrated patrol effort that netted over 30 arrests.

Gordy Wright of the Georgia State Patrol said troopers from Gainesville, Toccoa, Blue Ridge, Athens and Cumming held four road checks in the White County area Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Wright said 30 were arrested for driving under the influence. Three were cited for driving on a suspended license, three for seat belt violations and two for child restraint. One person was arrested on drug charges and one fugitive was apprehended.

White County Sheriff Neal Walden said his officers were kept busy transporting those arrested to the detention center.
