Schofield recommended Wade Pearce to take the helm of the charter school for kindergarten through fifth grade students.
"Wade and his family have been active in the Chestnut Mountain community for the past fifteen (15) years. He is a servant leader of unquestionable integrity, has a passion for supporting young people and their families, and understands the potential of creative inquiry, which underpins your local charter," Schofield said.
Pearce is currently head of schools at Eagle Ranch in Chestnut Mountain. He called it a blessing to be part of starting the school in 2001, building a new facility and going through accreditation and re-accreditation.
"I felt like I kind of met the goals that God had set out for me here. I love my job here, and I've been very blessed to be here, but thought that this was a great opportunity to go back into the Hall County School System," Pearce said.
He said he'll have time to be active in helping search for his own replacement.
"The school runs so well that anybody that comes in and takes my place will have a pretty easy job of it, so to speak, because the staff here is outstanding," Pearce said.
According to the school system, Pearce has 22 years experience in education, six as a teacher and 16 in administration.
He said he's excited to be part of the charter initiative.
"After reading the charter, I felt like this is the way that education should be done. People want to do it, it's just a matter of figuring out how to apply inquiry based learning. I'm excited to be a part of that."
Pearce would replace Sabrina May, who is retiring in December.
