Savannah State snaps losing streak

SAVANNAH -- Antonio Bostick passed for four touchdowns and rushed for two more as Savannah State outlasted Edward Waters 42-35 on Saturday to snap a 13-game losing streak that was the longest in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Savannah State (1-6) trailed Edward Waters (4-4), an NAIA program, by a touchdown twice in the first quarter and the game was tied four times.

Knotted at 28 with 5:41 left in the third quarter, Bostick completed his third scoring pass to Simon Heyward, this time a 52-yard TD. Bostick followed that with a 13-yard touchdown run to make it 42-28 with 11:45 remaining.

Bostick, who was 17 of 28 for 319 yards with one interception, also threw touchdown passes of 50 and 14 yards to Heyward and a 3-yarder to Sheldon Barnes.

Heyward finished with six catches for 160 yards.

Edward Waters quarterback Brandon Turman rushed for three touchdowns and Ray Dukes for two.
