Buford community pays tribute at Friday's game

BUFORD - The Buford High School community paid tribute Friday night to some people they've lost this year.

The tributes came during the school's football game.

Devin Durden lost his life in a traffic accident last month. The local standout played college football at The Air Force Academy.

Sterling Bell played with Durden in Buford and spoke with CBS Atlanta.

"That's probably the best way in Buford. Football and dedicating the whole game to him, that's kind of a big deal," Bell said.

Danielle, Devin's sister, was crowned homecoming queen.

16 year old student Adam Smith died earlier in September after collapsing at a pre-season basketball workout.

The ten and 46 yard lines were marked at Friday's game in honor of Smith and Durden.

The difficult year for the Wolves family came early, when assistant football coach Ryan Daniel collapsed at school and died in January. The RD in the Buford endzone is for Daniel.

Micah Smith graduated in 2009. She also spoke with CBS Atlanta.

"I've been close with everybody who has passed, and it really just shows how well Buford comes together. In times of need, we're all just one big family."
