Volleyball: Lakeview season ends; GHS marches on

The Lakeview Academy girls volleyball saw its season come to an end Thursday night.

The Lady Lions fell to Holy Innocents', the top seed from Area 5-A, 25-18, 25-23, 25-14 in the opening round of the Class A state playoffs.

Katie White paced Lakeview with seven kills, 12 digs and one ace. Kaylee McClendon added four kills and five blocks while Shelby Ross contributed three kills, three digs and seven blocks for the Lady Lions.

Delaney Jarrett had 10 assists and four digs and Samantha Versteeg had 11 digs for Lakeview. Katie Gay pitched in seven digs, two aces and two kills and Peaches Shipley added three kills and six blocks.

Lakeview's season is now complete.

Meanwhile, the Gainesville volleyball team took out Creekview 3-1 in the first round of the Class AAAAA playoffs to keep its season going.

The Lady Red Elephants (No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAAA), move on to face the winner of the Richmond Hill vs. Starr's Mill match in the second round.
