The list was the first compiled by the industry trade publication, and according to the Automotive News website, the rankings were taken from U.S. and Canadian dealerships that applied for the honor. Management at those dealerships filled out an extensive survey on employee benefits and practices. Then employees were surveyed. Best Companies Group, which has created similar rankings for other industries, reviewed the surveys and developed the rankings.
The Milton Martin Toyota dealership, founded in 1961 in Gainesville by Milton Martin, Sr., was ranked 35th among 40 medium-sized dealerships (50-99 employees) in the listing. Small and large-sized dealerships also were evaluated to round out the Top 100 list.
