GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville-Hall Metropolitan Planning organization is expected to make its recommendation on a consultant for an upcoming Gainesville traffic study next week.

Hall County Planning Director and MPO Director Srikanth Yamala said the eight to ten month study will include stakeholders and the public.

"The anticipated outcome out of this study is obviously to make sure that we are looking at any and all transportation options within the city of Gainesville," Yamala said.

Since the city approached the MPO for help with the study, the consultant proposal must go through the Hall County Commission. Commissioners are expected to hear the recommendation at their Monday work session.

Yamala said the city has committed $25,000 to the process, with $100,000 coming from federal coffers.

"The most important aspect to this study will be the public involvement element," Yamala said.
