GAINESVILLE - Hall County's non-profit community is getting behind this year's Georgia Gives Day on December 6.

The effort is spearheaded by the Georgia Center for Non-Profits, according to Jackie Wallace, the President of United Way of Hall County.

"The goal is to encourage giving, as much as possible, throughout the state on one single day of the year," said Wallace.

Not only is United Way promoting the event, but also The North Georgia Community Foundation and The Medical Center Foundation, both headquartered in Gainesville, are encouraging area 501(c)(3) organizations to participate.

Wallace said any area non-profit, as long as it is registered with the state, can take advantage of Georgia Gives Day by signing up on the website, www.gagiveesday.org.

Wallace said the one single day of giving also benefits contributors.

"Whether it's your favorite human service organization, whether your passion is for the environment, animals, your school...whatever it is, we hope that you'll find the opportunity there."
