The Corps is resuming the manual update for the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin.
"As a result of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit ruling in June 2011 and the June 2012 legal opinion of the Corps' Chief Counsel regarding authority to accommodate municipal and industrial water supply from the Buford Dam/Lake Lanier project we are resuming the manual update process," Mobile District Public Affairs Officer E. Patrick Robbins said.
According to the Corps, scoping comments it received in 2008 and 2009 will be reviewed and do not need to be resubmitted.
Mobile District Assistant Public Affairs Officer Lisa Parker said the manual is something the Corps has been trying to update for 20 years.
"We've been halted at various times for outside litigation, etc., so once again we have the opportunity to go back and open up the draft EIS (Environmental Impact Statement) for comments," Parker said.
