Volleyball: East Hall makes first-ever state playoffs

BUFORD -- The East Hall girls volleyball team made history Thursday night.

With a straight-sets vicory over North Hall in the Area 5-AAA, the Lady Vikings (30-14) advanced to the state tournament for the first time in school history.

East Hall held off the Lady Trojans 25-20, 25-22 to advance but then fell to host Bufdord 25-21, 25-15 in the third place game.

The Lady Vikings will be the fourth seed from 5-AAA.

Tarryn Long paced East Hall with 12 points on serve with six aces, 19 kills and 19 digs and Emily Hoggard added 11 kills and 14 digs. Brittney Campbell had eight digs and 34 assists and Kara Hix scored 11 points on serve two assists, four kills and 31 digs for the Lady Vikings.

For North Hall, Sydney Cleveland had 10 kills and three digs, Allie Staub had four kills and five digs, Kristina Gregory added 18 assists and Sarah Yoder had five kills.
