White County chicken house destroyed by fire

CLEVELAND - About a half dozen fire stations responded to a chicken house fire in White County about 9:25 p.m. Monday.

The poultry house at 9199 Duncan Bridge Road, which was about 60-percent involved by fire upon firefighters' arrival, was filled with broiler chickens.

Personnel from Cleveland Fire Department and White County Stations 2 (White Creek), 3 (Sautee-Nacoochee), 4 (Mossy Creek) and 5 (Shoal Creek) responded, along with a tanker and personnel from Habersham County Station 12 (View), and the firefighting team from Georgia Department of Corrections Station 1 at Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto. White County EMS also responded.

Units remained on scene for more than two hours.
