Rabid bat is Hall Co.'s 20th case this year

CLERMONT - A rabid bat has had contact with a dog in the Clermont area, according to officials with Hall County Animal Control.

The bat was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab- Virology Section in Decatur. On October 3, 2012, Hall County Animal Control was advised that the bat was positive for rabies.

The contact occurred in the Ivey Street area, and positive alert signs have been posted in that location.

This case marks the 20th confirmed rabies case in Hall County this year.
