Woman and toddler killed in Hall County crash

CLERMONT - A two-car crash in the Clermont area Sunday night claimed the life of a Clermont woman and her three-year-old passenger from Dahlonega.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, 50-year-old Lora L. Thompson and three-year-old Anna Grace Jones died from injuries in the crash at Ransom Free Road and Clermont Highway. Another passenger, six-year-old Ava Michelle Jones of Dahlonega, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to the patrol.

Troopers said the wreck happened around 7:45 p.m. when a 2006 Ford Mustang was headed west on Ransom Free Road. Authorities said the 16-year-old male driver tried to cross Clermont Highway.

Thompson was headed south on Clermont Highway in a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville. The Mustang hit the left side of the Bonneville, according to the state patrol.

There's no word yet on the identity of the 16 year old or information on possible injuries.

The crash remained under investigation by the state patrol Monday morning.
