CARTERSVILLE - Gov. Nathan Deal announced an agreement aimed at allowing Toyo Tire to continue expanding its operations in Bartow County.

Deal said the agreement will expand Bartow County's bonding capacity an additional $910 million. Deal said that will enable Toyo to expand its current facility in Bartow County, adding up to 470 new jobs over the next few years.

Deal said Georgia has an unacceptably high unemployment rate, but the number of jobs being created at the Toyo facility is a great step in the right direction.

Toyo Tire North America's 900,000-square-foot facility in Bartow County began operations in 2006.

The governor's office said that with the bonding agreement announced Tuesday, Toyo's employment could grow to 1,340 workers by 2020.
