County spokeswoman Nikki Young said Tuesday the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has informed county officials about plans to proceed with the new study of the impact the impoundment would have on Lake Lanier as well as people who live in the area.
Young was also quick to point out that the county has to build the reservoir by 2015 or the property ownership reverts back to the Glades.
When they submitted their application last month, county officials had hoped to have the permit in 12 months.
The new study invites more public comment on the proposal.
Commissioners say they say they will spend several weeks deciding how to react to the decision.
