Vehicle in Lake Lanier a puzzle

DAHLONEGA - Boaters near the Lumpkin County Park on the upper end of Lake Lanier discovered that what they thought was a sunken boat was actually a submerged automobile.

According to Lumpkin County Investigator Darren Martin, "The top of the car is roughly eight foot from the surface. At this time we have no details or understanding how the car ended up in the lake."

The Forsyth County Dive Team was called in to assist with the investigation.

When asked if anyone might be in the vehicle, Martin said, "A preliminary search by (first) responders ... did a physical search. At this time we don't believe so."

Martin explained that the investigation will continue once the vehicle is removed from the water.
