*Voters in Hall County approved a one penny sales tax for education by a 66 percent-34 percent margin. (See separate story.)
*Banks County voters approved a one percent Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST) by 75 percent of the vote Tuesday.
*Jackson County voters also approved an E-SPLOST Tuesday. Seventy percent voted for the one percent tax and 30 percent voted against it.
*In Forsyth County, voters approved the E-SPLOST by an even greater margin. Eighty percent of Forsyth County residents who cast a ballot Tuesday voted for the one percent sales tax. Twenty percent voted against it.
*A one percent General Fund Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax was approved by 80 percent of Barrow County voters. The sales tax will be used for capital improvements and debt reduction
*A runoff will be held next month in Habersham County following Tuesday's Special Probate Judge election. Pamela F. (Eller) Wooley received the most votes, coming in at 39 percent. Londa I. Wilson received 30 percent of the vote.
The election was held to fill the seat vacated by Sue Bottoms who resigned last year. A total of five candidates were on the ballot. Thomas Jefferson Moore received two percent of the vote; Clair W. Langmaid, 12 percent; and 14 percent of the vote went to Lorne H. Cragg.
*Charlotte Nash will be the next Gwinnett County Commission chairman. Nash garnered 55 percent of the vote in a four-person race Tuesday. Larry Gause received 26 percent of the vote, while Duane Kissel and Will Costa both received 9 percent of the vote.
The election was held to fill the post left vacant when Charles Bannister resigned under pressure last year.
