On Tuesday, members of the GBI attested Matthew Scott Rogers, 44, charging him with one felony count of criminal liability and penalties of crimes of computers.
The arrest was in connection with Rogers running a tag through the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) for personal reasons which violate the laws governing the use of GCIC.
Last Thursday Commerce Police Chief John Gaissert requested the GBI Athens Regional Office to investigate.
Rogers was processed at the Jackson County Jail where he was later released on $2,000 bond.
Rogers is on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an internal administrative review by the Commerce Police Department.
