ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Evan Barlow's overtime goal lifted the Elmira Jackals past the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-2 Wednesday night at First Arena.

The Glads (5-3-2-1) next head to Toledo for a Friday/Saturday matchup with the Walleye before heading to Chicago to wrap up their four game road trip.

Jackals (5-4-0-0) forward Artem Demkow scored his eighth goal of the season in first period on the powerplay, beating Marc Cheverie with a one-timer to put Elmira up 1-0 through 20 minutes. The opening period saw only 15 combined shots from both teams, seven coming from the Gladiators.

In the second, the Glads tied things up on a powerplay one-timer by Brad Miller. His third goal from Kashirsky and Milo at 12:45 came on a terrific set-up, as Miller blasted a slapper past Brian Stewart from the near dot.

Elmira regained the lead on a Mike Ratchuk tally at 17:28, but the Gladiators again answered late in the period on the powerplay. Joey Haddad extended his point streak to four games as Helfrich and Bartlett set him up for the one-timer, and Haddad buried it past Stewart from the near side with just 29.4 seconds left in the period.

The Glads were unable to capitalize on a couple powerplay chances in the third, and Elmira made them pay in overtime. Just 1:28 into the extra period Evan Barlow beat Cheverie from in close to seal a 3-2 Elmira win. Stewart got the win for the Jackals stopping 32 shots, while Cheverie made 22 saves in a losing effort. Gwinnett went 2-for-6 on the powerplay, while Elmira went 1-for-4.
