Sunday alcohol sales easily passes

UNDATED - The question of whether to allow the Sunday sale of alcohol in retail stores easily passed in the three cities in Hall County and several other places in northeast Georgia where it was on the ballot Tuesday.

The vote in Gainesville was 1,060 to 476. In Oakwood, the question passed 55 percent to 45 percent and in Flowery Branch, the margin was 68 percent to 32 percent.

Elsewhere in northeast Georgia, the vote in Helen was 75 to 29 in favor and in Suwanee, 1,023 to 341 and the issue was also approved by City of Winder and Barrow County voters and those in Sugar Hill and Suwanee.
