The body of 23-year-old Alexander Christopher Matthew Adams apparently had been in the water several days when it was discovered Sunday night floating in a cove on Providence Road off Georgia Highway 330.
Published reports in the Athens Banner Herald says Adams appears to have drowned, although his body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for toxicology tests.
The drowning is the first in Bear Creek Reservoir, which opened in 2002.
